Field Notes

Description:

The most common snake in North America. It is not poisonous. Usually found under leaves or shrubbery hiding. It is about three feet long but varies. The one I found was yellow, green and brown colored to blend in with its surroundings.

Habitat:

Garter snakes live from very North America down to Central America. Stay in dry land, terrestrial and not seen in or around water.

Notes:

This was the second time I found one in my backyard. They are not aggressive but very hard to see.
