Description:
Fairly low growing wildflower. Blooms early in the spring with small, pink or purple flowers. Leaves hairy, green and/or purple in color. Often grows in large patches. Important source of nectar and pollen for bees in the early Spring (as per Wikipedia). Mint Family.
Habitat:
Cantiague Park, Westbury, NY. Disturbed habitat like roadsides and cultivated areas.
Notes:
Entire plant is edible. Introduced to the US and considered invasive in some areas.
