Field Notes

Description:

Very large arachnid with black head and claws. The abdomen is brown with dark brown, horizontal bars on top. The end of the abdomen has a long "whip".

Habitat:

Science Expo booth advertising Dr. Entomo's Palace of Exotic Wonders exhibit at the San Diego Natural History Museum. Vinegaroon's are found in tropical and subtropical areas of the world except Europe, Australia and Africa.

Thank you for the comment, Samantha. That is another name for them. Common names aren't a good way to identify an organism as there can be several names for the same species. Unfortunately I don't know which species this one is.
My specialties are reptiles not arachnids though I believe this is some sort of whiptail scorpion you may want to look him up
