Field Notes

Description:

This spotting is about some very interesting feet; the feet of the American Coot propels them through the water by wide lobes on their feet. They are excellent swimmers but are heavy and must "walk" on the water before becoming airborne.

Habitat:

Seen at Wakodatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach, Florida.
