Description:

This wonderful woodland wildflower, especially the root, is antiseptic, astringent, diuretic, styptic and tonic. The young leaves were reportedly consumed by Native Americans, though given the high tannin content of the plant not sure how palatable they would be.

Habitat:

Riparian-S. Chickamauga creek
