Northern Shoveler

A common waterfowl here in the Southeast. They are often found in mixed flocks, usually with Mallard and Blue-winged Teal. They are named after their large bill, which some say resembles a shovel.
Drakes are black and white with a green head and rufous flanks; hens are drab brown.
