Description:

Every year I meet some of these guys around the house:
<br><br>
Usually I see 6-8 males whilst only 1 or 2 females.
<br><br>
Capital males are ~4-4,5cm.
<br><br>
Cute beetles with no serious chelicerae.
<br><br>
In the last few years their number has multiplied, also Mammoth wasp (Megascolia maculata) occurs more frequently since. (!)

Thank You Tiz! Yep, just as Stag beetle - the more time (years) it spends in the root-zone as an ugly larva, the more beautiful bug come to light for a few days (months) to do their duty of reproduction and to fall... Arthropods are ancient, beautifully perfect living machines.
Wonderful shot and find. I just respect these beetles so much since they live so long under the surface. Great for you that you find them every year and that they seem to be thriving.
