Description:

The largest rodent in North America, the beaver is a semi aquatic mammal. It has a large flat paddle-shaped tail and large, webbed hind feet. It builds lodges or dams on streams, lakes, ponds, river deltas. It resides in these lodges, made of sticks and mud, or in burrows on the banks of the river.

Habitat:

Woods, rivers, lakes, ponds. This beaver is seen in an exhibit at the National Zoo in Washington, DC.
