Description:

Large white pandemic egret- pictures taken at rookery not far from town.In breeding season they grow long wispy feathers that were once the rage for ladies' hats in America and Europe.

Habitat:

edge of river between well traveled rural road and farmland

Thank you, Alice! I'm going to post another set shortly of the egrets sitting on nests and then of cormorants on nests. This was the northernmost rookery until just last year when another one set up north of here
