Field Notes

Description:

Adult Trumpeter Swans in flight, stretching and socializing in the river

Habitat:

In open areas of the Otter Tail River but in far fewer numbers than in January, February and March so I think many have already left or migrated further north

Notes:

Still a few Trumpeter Swans to be found in and around the Otter Tail River (in Otter Tail County) in April but in far fewer numbers than in the previous three or four months. I have found a few here and there all spring, summer and fall but very few remain in our area during the warmer months when they're laying eggs and raising their Swanlings.
