Field Notes

Description:

This very colorful arthropod has four wings that reflect like plastic. It has around a five inch body and the tail itself is probably about three inches. The off-red, brownish tail has a design of darker diamonds that form a chain down the center of the tail.

Habitat:

It is in tecolote canyon, although it found the one area that isn't natural. It was on a patch of lawn, sitting very still until I got too close. It was enjoying the sun it seemed like.
