Description:

Morels are hollow from bottom of stem to top of cap, and the bottom of the cap is attached to the stem. Honeycomb-like caps are longer than the stems and are full of ridges and pits. This particular morel was huge - over 5 inches tall!

Habitat:

Spotted growing in a sunny meadow among a large patch of morels.

Notes:

This species of morel is described as new to science in 2012. Thanks to the mushroom observer website for help with ID.
