Description:

Large Katydid of about 5 cm, bark colored, looks like a female. From above, looking down on it, it looked like a big spider (last picture).
Family Tettigoniidae.

Habitat:

In the garden at night, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Great photos of this impressive specimen... It appears to be a male, due to the absence of ovipositor and I also notice a small stridulatory organ at the base of the fore wings just behind the thorax.
