Field Notes
Description:
Each photo is of a different bird. I have found these to be highly curious birds. As you can see in the photos I had them land on my hand.
Habitat:
Protected area with woods and a river. Chagrin River Park, Lake Metroparks systems, Willoughby, Ohio, Lake County, USA
Notes:
I had read that these birds are curious and often around people. The first bird pictured landed very near me on a low branch and was looking at me and then suddenly jumped down and landed just inches from my foot. It then went back to the branch and was joined by another.
On a whim I extended my arm and made a perch with my finger and the first bird flew down and perched on my finger looking expectantly into my closed fist probably hoping to find a snack. When he found none he flew back to the branch and then the second bird felw to my hand. It was an awesome experience and next time I will take a bit of bird seed for them :-)
