Field Notes

Description:

Dark (brown to black) fungus with alternating rings. It looks hard and somewhat shiny, almost as if it's made of porcelain.

Habitat:

Saprobic (feeds on a fallen tree) and found in the tropical rainforest.

Notes:

Reminds me of a scallop! It was in such a hard to reach place that I couldn't get closer.
