Field Notes

Description:

It is an herbaceous annual, and in warm climates a biennial. The stems bear bright pink flowers, arranged in loose cluster, and often have dark spots on the bases. The leaves are pinnate and fern-like, and the long seed-pod, shaped very much like the bill of a stork, bursts open in a spiral when ripe, sending the seeds (which have little feathery parachutes attached) into the air.

Habitat:

It is native to the Mediterranean Basin.

Notes:

The entire plant is edible with a flavor similar to sharp parsley if picked young.

OK, thank you very much :) as long is edible is fine :D ha ha
I just remembered there is another erodium sp that we eat here...But I need to find the scientific name first...I have the pic, same pink little flower, different folliage...After I come back from the museum, I'll start looking :/
It is much easier when I memorize it through its flowers, honestly, with flowers it comes so naturally but when I need to guess something by its leaves then I see that I become very unsure ;) Tnx for your spotting it was very helpful!
