I'm not sure if it's an adder or a rattlesnake.....
Maybe...has those (faint) slanted eyestripes and roughly keeled scales. It is also a species found at the West Midlands Safari Park...
It's some kind of rattlesnake...it's not native
Thanks for you reply Jonathan. We like to know whether animals are captive or not as it can help with ID. This is not the European adder, the only one found in the wild in the UK. I hope someone else will be able to narrow it down.
Yes, this snake is captive at West Midlands Safari Park, I thought it would be good to add to the species count. Have you any idea what sort of adder it is?
