Field Notes

Description:

At approximately 30mm long this brown lacewing was exploring the bark of a local eucalyptus.

Habitat:

Gum tree trunk in local parkland.

Notes:

Almost the only arthropod seen in the area. Hemerobiidae are a family of plain insects usually about 15 to 30mm long and commonly known as 'Brown Lacewings'. It's a good disguise for bark. Species are very difficult to get information on although genus is well supported. http://esperancewildlife.blogspot.com.au/2010/04/brown-lacewings-hemero…
