Notes:

They would settle down on the vines of our ternatea plant every 5pm.

Hi Jo12, great spotting. Your bees are males which are known to cling to stems at might. The females live in burrows in the ground. These bees lead a solitary lifestyle, unlike honey bees which are very social. There are some in our backyard which behave just like yours. https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1728116995....
