Description:

Photo take near home on a jungle path this is a very common hanging plant in tis area has beautiful pink round flowers around 10 cm diameter.

The plant shown is Ipomoea crinicalyx by my own analysis based upon the stem and leaf form , glabrous , dark color at bottom of tube and the spiny seedpod which is visible below the bloom and needs to be enlarged to be seen properly coupled with a foreknowledge of what features to look for in Ipomoea identification. There is no English common name and if there is a common name it would be in either Spanish or a native Mesoamerican Indian language. The plant shown by the 'flower expert' on her Ipomoea indica page is Ipomoea purpurea....the epither "learii" was relegated to synonym status long ago...
