Description:
I'm think it is a northern walkingstick/common walkingstick (Diapheromera femorata)? Although it says they usually span from 3-4 inches this specimen was somewhere btwn 6-7.
Habitat:
Found in mixed woods comprising of both conifers and deciduous trees, the deciduous mainly comprising of white oak, sugar maple and shag-bark hickory. The conifers being white pine and eastern hemlock.
Notes:
The specimen was drawn to the light of a house one night.
The photo was taken a few years back and this is the only photo of the same insect I could find.
