Field Notes

Description:

A large crane of North America and extreme northeastern Siberia. Their height is approximately 80 to 120 cm (2.6 to 3.9 ft) and wingspan 1.65 to 2.1 m (5.4 to 6.9 ft).

Habitat:

They breed in open marshes or bogs, wet grasslands and meadows. They feed in marshes and grain fields.

Notes:

I found a flock of approximately 1500 cranes that were feeding in stubble fields. It was quite a sight...
