Field Notes

Description:

Smaller egret similar to Cattle Egret, but with a black bill and legs and no orange streaks on the top of the head. Head feathers also often fluff up in the wind.

Habitat:

Tidal Wetlands, occasionally freshwater.

Notes:

Sharing a pool near Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with Great Egrets, Wood Storks, Roseate Spoonbills, Great Blue Herons, Cattle Egrets, Little Blue Herons, Reddish Egrets, Tri-colored Herons, White Ibises and Glossy Ibises.
