Field Notes

Description:

Although the mushroom (locally known as ligbus) is still colored white, it is already in its dying stage. When I saw it in the morning, it was still shining and was firmly attached to an old decaying wood. There were around five caps with an average diameter size of two inches and a with a height of one and a half inch. However, when I came back in the afternoon after the heavy rain, this was how I found them. I didn't realize that their lifespan is so short that with a single pouring rain they begin to die.

Habitat:

They are found in Zambonga City, Philippines. They used to flourished anywhere in Zamboanga however due to commercialization they can rarely be found now in the plains. These pictures were taken in my uncle's farm, roughly 720 feet above sea level. This is quite interesting because they only thrive during the rainy season before which usually starts in May. But now with summer (based on tropical climate) just about to end they begin to appear. That was why they caught my attention because it was my first time to see them appear this early.

Notes:

I don't think they are edible. Of all the mushrooms I had before, I never had one with this kind of form and characteristics.

Species ID Suggestions

Its a possibility. I don't know how to distinguish edible from non-edible mushrooms. My personal rule is if others don't eat it, then I will not eat either. But I'll check your suggestion to see if it is oyster mushroom.
It somewhat resembles Oyster mushrooms which are edible, but I don't think this is a Pleurotus species...
