Field Notes

Description:

These gallinule babies are eager for food. They have no wings yet, just little stubs that they use to help them climb in and out of their nest. The top of their heads is hairless and they have big eyes so they are not really cute but their mom thinks they are.

Habitat:

In an inland fresh water canal in western Boca Raton, FL and in the brush along the canal bank.

Great series! We have tons if these guys hanging around the ponds at my workplace. I think the babies look like fuzzy aliens. So adorable!!!
Thanks Ava T-B, I posted it to the Hunters and Animal Food Habits mission as you suggested.
This spotting could go in the Hunters and Animal Feeding Behavior mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8463465
