Description:

Smallish overall pale buff duck; maroon-chestnut upper parts; dark grey-brown crown with golden-orange feathers margins; upper-tail-coverts chestnut in colour; scaly pattern on back; large head, thin long neck; long legs

Photo taken at Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary, Dholpur, Rajasthan - India

Habitat:

Fresh water rivers and lakes with plentiful vegetation.

Notes:

Nests in tree-holes, abandoned bird nests. Seen perching on tree branches near water-bodies.
