Description:

small clump of mushrooms, possibly bioluminescent

Habitat:

tropical rainforest, coastal

Notes:

One of over 30 species of fungi I spotted in Tangkoko Batuangus Nature Reserve. Looked like it might be a type that is bioluminescent but I didn't see it in the dark.

Thanks MM for the ID and info. That sounds like it. I wish I would have known it could have been bioluminescent. I was really hoping to see glow in the dark mushrooms in Malaysia, but I didn't see any this trip.

Awesome series, dandoucette! There is actually a genus called Poromycena! At least, I believe nowadays it has the name Filoboletus, but it's kinda like the first name's all about: looks of a Mycena, but with pores. I've found some rad info on this species, which I think is Filoboletus manipularis. Description down below. If you have the chance, try to check it them out at night. Some of the strains of this fungus seem to have the awesome feature of bioluminescense! http://botit.botany.wisc.edu/toms_fungi/jan2009.html

Thanks staccyh. You're right Mark, looks like it could be a Favolaschia. At least I was close with the same family.

Not mycena.. not gills but large pores... like Favolaschia sp.? Very clean and nice.
