Field Notes

Description:

This plant was a near a couple feet in height. Its leaves were long, thin, and tapered into points. The leaves grew outward from a common point, and had surfaces that were smooth and glossy. Ridges ran down the middle of each leaf, along its length. The stem of the plant was almost completely covered by its many leaves, but was dark in color and roughly textured. There appeared to be no flowers growing from this plant.

Habitat:

This plant, when spotted, was growing amidst thick grass. This grass was long and thin, and a dark green, indicating that it was receiving a sufficient amount of water. The grassy area, as well as the plant itself, was located in the small front yard of a town house of Hui ʻIwa place in Kahaluʻu, Oʻahu.
