Description:

Tallest mammal; very long legs and neck; blotchy coat-colour pattern, unique to each individual; several sub-spices are distinguished by colour(pale-yellow to black), shape and size of blotches against whit, orange, or buff-coloured background.Both sexes carry short blunt horns

Habitat:

Dry savanna woodland particularly area dominated by Acacia, Commiphora, Combretum and Terminalia trees. Access to drinking water is essential

Notes:

In East Africa there are 3 distinct races: 1. Maasai race G . c. Tippelskirchi 2. Reticulated race G .c . reticulata and 3. Rothschild's race G .c . rothschildi
