Description:

A tiny brentid weevil , there was also another smaller one, possibly the male?
(Thin Strawberry Weevil?)

Habitat:

Found on roadside shrubs (undetermined).

Notes:

This is in FAMILY BRENTIDAE by some sources such as bug guide but Brisbane insects place it into FAMILY CURCULIONIDAE, Subfamily Aterpinae so we need some clarification here.

This one is really unique in shape and with those two prongs on the end of the elytra. The antennae are distinctly elbowed, which is also unusual. Great find.

Thanks Mark, and thanks for the correction. The error originated from a cut/paste from the flickr link in my notes. The photograph is excellent but spelling contains two errors in that word. In my haste, I only corrected one of them, adding the 'r'.
