Field Notes

Description:

A gathering of wild, (male) Tom Turkey chasing tail after a lone female

Habitat:

Along a road bordered by dense pine trees and prairie grasses, down the road from a small horse pasture

Notes:

These Toms were in full strut when I came upon them however, the car windows were rolled up and I had been driving about 20 mph. By the time I pulled over, rolled down my passenger window and lifted my camera they'd stopped strutting and the female was taking her leave. The males quickly stopped displaying themselves and gave pursuit...thus the term chasing tail.
