Description:

A lovely woodpecker about the size of Picoides villosus, the Hairy Woodpecker, Sphyrapicus varius, the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker is characterized by a red cap, a red throat, and a white shoulder bar. There is also an orante pattern which can be seen on the lower back of the sapsucker, especially in photos two and four.

Habitat:

Found on a dead tree between two small ponds.

Notes:

Lifer!!! I just love woodpeckers.
