Field Notes

Description:

Small desert ground squirrel. About the size of a chipmunk but a little longer. No markings, just color of sand on the top and lighter underneath. Thin rounded tail, furry feet and large eyes. Ears are flat against the body. They can stand on their hind feet.

Habitat:

Southwestern states and Mexico. Burrows under larger bushes like Creosote and Mesquite.

Notes:

This was the only one I spotted but can see tracks of others and hear their calls.
