Feb 11, 2015 - ID updated to Delta esuriens following MarcoSelis' suggestion.

Potter wasps (or mason wasps) are a cosmopolitan wasp group presently treated as a subfamily of Vespidae, but sometimes recognized in the past as a separate family, Eumenidae.

Delta companiforme gracilior (Giordani Soika, 1986), with distribution in India (Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, West Bengal), Australia, Egypt, Indonesia (Sulawesi), Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Senegal, Sumatra, Thailand.

Habitat:

Backyard garden, spotted nectaring on Duranta erecta (Golden Dewdrop) flowers.

This isn't D. campaniforme, but a similar species: D. esuriens.
