Field Notes

Description:

Flowers open in the morning for a few days. Then they stay closed for a couple weeks until they open dramatically as a large head of seeds. Each seed has a umbrella like structure attached for dispersal via wind.

Habitat:

A "volunteer" in my garden.

Notes:

Apparently the leaves, flowers, and roots are edible and tasty!
