Field Notes

Habitat:

Widely distributed through North America. Larva feed on Aphids.

Notes:

Pictures not great, hard to focus and track in flight. It would hover, then zigzag in the air, then dart towards the plant leaves. Repeated this behavior a few times. I suspect it was ovipositing because of the repetition of the behavior and the fact that there were aphids present as seen in pic 2 to the left. Pic 3 is very blurry, but it aided in ID due to the dark pattern on the wings.
