Hi Glen, could you please add this spotting to the Breeding Birds of BC mission? Thanks, they breed in the grassy areas of BC, old pastures, fields. They breed later in the season than many birds so that their young have thistle and grass seeds to feed on. You might find some in the fields at Tynehead park in Surrey, or any other area where the grass is not mowed in the early summer, giving them cover for their nests and food for their young. They do come to my seed feeders in the summer as we have some grassy areas near our place.
