Field Notes

Description:

A beautiful young owl that hasn't fledged yet. The amazing thing about this nest is that it was in a front yard in a neighborhood. We were able to get right under the tree and the little owl didn't care.

Habitat:

A tree in someone's front yard!

Notes:

The pellets from the ground that were examined revealed that the owls had been eating birds, such as the red-winged black bird!
