Reddish wave (m)
Scopula rubraria
-37.8753, 145.354
Field Notes
Description:
About 24mm wide this little geometrid moth landed on a huge pile of woodchips and almost disappeared as it was a good color match.
Habitat:
Open eucalyptus forest to clear grasslands.
Notes:
There is almost no arthropod life to be found at the moment due to drought and the season. This was the only creature seen on a 5km walk. A previous 'reddish wave' geometeridae (Scopula rubraria) was found about 5 weeks ago but this one certainly has stronger patterns and colours plus much clearer picture. Male - the female has different pattern.
