Field Notes

Description:

Dark brown/black fungus. Looked somewhat jelly-like. Growing on a dead tree branch. Apparently this fungus is more gelatinous when it is just growing and as it ages it ends up looking like what I found. It is also called Amber Jelly Roll.

Habitat:

Sunken Meadow State Park, New York. Trailside wooded area.
