Field Notes

Description:

I stumbled upon this nest as I was walking across my pasture. I posted a picture earlier of the female bird and these are her two chicks that were in the nest. The third picture is the nest, it's a little tunnel back into a clump of prairie grass, completely hidden from view.

Habitat:

Prairie grass surrounded by woodlands about 100 feet from a pond.

Thank you AshleyT! It was fun seeing the cute little guys.
The babies are so precious! I still haven't seen a Woodcock, maybe this year I can find one :)
