Field Notes

Description:

I have never ever seen one of these before. In everything I have read these are said to be in my area in the winter but this is clearly spring so I feel pretty fortunate to have spotted this one.

Fairly large, full-bodied warblers with a large head, sturdy bill, and long, narrow tail. Myrtle indicates the subspecies of the Eastern U.S. In the Western U.S. the subspecies is the Audubon.

Habitat:

Suburban backyard.
