Species ID Suggestions

Hi James, Chamaeleonidae is not part of a Scientific name, it is a higher order (Family) name. A Scientific name is Genus + species, and that is all that should appear in the 'Scientific name' field.. The quoting of Family and other higher order names as Scientific Names by some web sites is creating confusion as these should be more correctly called scientific orders or rankings. You can read more about Scientific naming conventions in our Blog section.
