Field Notes

Description:

A series of images capturing this odd couple mating.

Habitat:

Adjacent to a small stream. Altitude 1000m.

Notes:

The male is considerably smaller than the females 45mm length.

He first checks to make sure the female is busy eating, to ensure his safety. He then moves to the underside of the female, collects his seed on the end of his palp, inserts the point in the female and injects the seed.
