Field Notes

Description:

Small, stocky sphinx moth with green head and thoracic hair and a bright white band across the abdomen. The underside is tan on the thorax and mottled browns on the abdomen. This poor moth was trapped in the window of the museum of the Copoya Cross above Tuxtla Gutierrez. Took a while to catch it to let it go back outside. They are strong and fast fliers and important pollinators. Part of his long tail fringe was missing. Family Sphingidae.
