Field Notes

Description:

It has a dark grey back; distinctively two-toned dorsal fin and short, dark grey beak. Throat and belly are white, and there is a light grey patch on the foreside.

Habitat:

Off the coasts of South America, southwestern Africa, southern Australia, New Zealand and some oceanic islands.

Notes:

Dusky dolphins have a characteristic thorn-shaped patch of dark colour between the white areas.
