Description:

The Forest Mother-of-Pearl or Common Mother-of-Pearl (Protogoniomorpha parhassus) is a species of Nymphalidae butterfly found in forested areas of Africa. They are entirely African in distribution.

Habitat:

Found along the gorge between bridges 1 & 2.

This species is found in lowland forest habitats, including degraded forest. It is a sun-loving species, usually seen along logging roads and around the edges of small clearings.

I got an ID on my pics (unfortunately not very good pics) of what is probably the same one, similar area, and it is the Clouded Mother-of-Pearl, Protogoniomorpha anacardii nebulosa. http://www.sntc.org.sz/biodiversity/sdbutterflyinfo.asp?spid=906
