Description:

A young wild blackberry plant. Flowers white with yellow canters.
Nearby are larger blackberry plants, which have grown into sprawling, thorny brambles and produce lots of berries in summertime. They haven't flowered yet.

Habitat:

Shady place at the edge of woods, growing amidst leaf litter

Notes:

I LOVE having these wild blackberries in my yard!

If there are plenty of blackberries in the area, then that's probably what it would be. Just a young plant. Still Rubus sp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackberry
Hmmm, thanks. That area has tons of wild blackberry bushes. None of them have blossomed yet, though, and they're big, sprawling things. It would make sense if this were a similar species, since it like the same conditions..
Hi Mandy, looks like it is a Wild Raspberry or similar. Rubus sp. That will give you a place to start.
