Field Notes

Description:

Tiny Long-Horned Wood-Boring Beetle of 6 mm in length. I was very surprised how furry it was. It was so active I had to refrigerate it for awhile. That gave me 30 seconds before it took off. Family Cerambycidae.

Habitat:

Garden, semi-urban area, outskirts of San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Wow. I had no idea there were Cerambycids that were that small, or that hairy.
