Field Notes

Description:

These GBHs were the King and Queen of the rookery!! This was a small island rookery in a fairly small lake, with about 30 nesting pairs of cormorants. The male would fly to the mainland, gather a branch for the nest, fly back to his girl and present the stick which she would place ever so carefully in the nest, and proceed to have his way with her! At least she got the branches!! ;-) Found in wildlife refuge in Wheat Ridge, CO.

Brilliant series... very nice. I really like the one in flight with water background. It's perfect photograph, can see the details of the shape and the colors of the bird. Very nice.
